Is Friends of Children and Families a part of the Department of Children and Families?
No, Friends of Children and Families is not a part of the Department of Children and Families.
What is Friends of Children and Families?
Friends of Children and Families, Inc. is a 501(c)c non- profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for at-risk children and their families and give them the opportunity to develop into well-adjusted and productive members of society.
What services does Friends of Children and Families provide?
We provide Residential Group Homes, Outpatient Counseling, Rapid Response and Mentoring. Both our Rapid Response and Mentoring services are provided on a referral basis at this time.
What kind of Residential Group Home services do you offer?
We offer Residential Group Home services for children ages 12 to 17 removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect in need of Foster Care.
What is Foster Care?
A temporary custody arrangement in which a child is placed with caring individuals provide for the care of a child or children whose birthparent is unable to care for them. Foster care is not where juvenile delinquents go. It is where children go when their parents cannot, for a variety of reasons, care for them.
How long do the children in Foster Care stay with you?
Children in our care typically stay with us for six months although we have had children stay for many years until they transition to independence.
How can I help?
We are always in need of both in- kind and monetary donations to help our mission and we do offer Volunteer opportunities throughout the year. If you want to get involved with Friends, send an email to info@friendscf.org or give us a call at 407-273-8444.
What type of donations do you accept?
We accept monetary donations as well as gently used clothing and furniture, canned and boxed goods, hygiene products, and more. Items can be dropped off at our Main Office during the hours of 8am to 5pm Monday- Thursdays (Except for holidays). What insurance do you take for Outpatient Counseling services?
We take Amerigroup, Staywell (Wellcare), Sunshine (Cenpatico), and United (Optum).
